The State Water Resources Control Board’s Office of Information Management and Analysis has an opening for an Environmental Scientist in the Surface Water Ambient Monitoring Program. Use your experience and knowledge of freshwater science and ecology with your collaborative skills to lead coordination of statewide monitoring program efforts. Our supportive work environment promotes creativity in adapting solutions towards holistically restoring and protecting water quality conditions throughout the state. The position is primarily remote-based, and the in-office location is based at 1001 I Street, 19th Floor, Sacramento, CA, 95814 right in the heart of Downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation.
Duties:
This position will support implementation of SWAMP monitoring program activities and efforts related to chemical, physical and biological monitoring of waterbodies statewide. They will work closely with SWAMP data science and technical leads and data management staff as part of an interdisciplinary team to implement core program components including projects related to program management, monitoring and assessment, data quality and management, and communication and engagement.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
