The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Water Quality has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Wastewater Unit. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 15th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814, in the heart of downtown Sacramento next to light rail stations, other public transportation, and great restaurants. The incumbent would be teleworking most of the time and will be required to report to the office based on operational needs. 

Duties:

The Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE) performs complex engineering tasks involved in implementation of the water quality core regulatory program as a member of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Unit. The NPDES Unit provides statewide oversight and assistance on permitting and compliance activities related to the NPDES Wastewater Program. 

The Water Resource Control Engineer will develop and implement NPDES permits and will coordinate with Regional Water Quality Control Board staff, other state and federal agencies, interested parties and the public. Some travel is required. Additional details regarding the job duties are described in the attached Duty Statement.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
