The State Water Resources Control Boards has an opening for a Water Resource Control Engineer in the Emergency Management Program. This position is in the heart of Downtown Sacramento, close to light rail stations and other public transportation at 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA 95814.
The Emergency Management Program (EMP) helps California prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. EMP is dedicated to protecting public health and water quality by providing emergency management for emergencies involving waters of the state. EMP responds to all hazards including acute emergencies such as wildfires, earthquakes, floods, and long-term emergencies including drought and sea-level rise. EMP provides support and guidance for all agency staff, stakeholders, and the public prior to, during, and after emergency incidents. Duties:
Emergency work is complex and fast paced. You will have to be personable, communicate effectively, and remain calm in many different settings. The work environment during an emergency response may vary considerably from the normal work setting. You will be required to travel and work for extensive periods, including weekends and holidays, in times of emergency response activities.
You will be part of the State Water Boards Office of Research, Planning and Performance. The Office develops and implements policies in emerging and cross-cutting areas. Currently, the portfolio of the Office includes Climate Change, Racial Equity, the Human Right to Water, Urban Water Conservation, and more.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience.
