FWS - Student Hours Assistant

The Science Hub is part of the Campus Learning Center (CLC), and is located on the second floor of VCU's state-of-the-art STEM Building. We serve VCU's STEM community by increasing outside of class learning, breaking down barriers to academic success, and instilling a sense of community among students, faculty and staff. One of our most successful programs is Student Hours: A dedicated time during the week for professors to come to the Science Hub, so that students to ask questions about course content, meet peers in their course, and get to know their professor.

Student Hours Assistants (SHAs) are an important part of the CLC team. As a SHA, you will be the first point of contact for students, faculty, and staff who come to the Science Hub. SHAs support Science Hub programming, like Student Hours, by providing administrative support and creating a warm and welcoming environment.

Candidates for this position must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:

  • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be enrolled in a STEM major at VCU
  • Commitment to working a full semester

Application

Once you submit your application, the Science Hub Program Manager will review it. If you are selected for an interview, the Science Hub Program Manager will contact you to schedule a virtual interview.

Interviews

Interviews are conversation-based and are expected to take about 30 minutes to complete.
