Sales/Design Internship

About our Internship Position:

This internship will provide an inside look of the day-to-day tasks within various departments at L&M Carpet One Floor and Home with the majority of the time spent assisting and supporting our Sales/Design Consultants. The Sales/Design Consultants assist customers throughout their flooring project from an initial Design Consultation to the completed Installation. Projects include all types of floor-covering (Carpet, Hardwood, Luxury Vinyl, Ceramic/Porcelain, and Laminate), custom showers, custom backsplashes and more. As an intern, the position may require interacting with customers and assisting them with product choices according to their individual needs and desires. Additional roles of the internship include assisting in showroom maintenance and learning about the programs used within the company. 

 

L&M Carpet One Internship Roles and Responsibilities 

 

Sales Support: Shadow experienced sales representatives, observe sales techniques, learn how to close sales transactions, and oversee flooring installation projects by communicating with customers to ensure satisfaction. Assist sales representatives with sample selections and presentations, ordering samples, entering customer data, and other various tasks.  

 

 

Assisting Customers: Handle customer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, addressing concerns, scheduling appointments, and following up on orders. 

 

Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining showroom inventory levels, conducting stock checks, and organizing floor samples and merchandise displays. 

 

Marketing Support: Assist in executing marketing initiatives such as preparing promotional materials to be displayed in the showroom. Assist in creating content for the company's website, showroom TVs, and social media platforms, including photos, videos, and written posts showcasing flooring products and installations. Assist in designing brochures and other handouts given to customers through all stages of their flooring project.  

 

Measure Team Support: Shadow measure professional during in-home consultations to observe how drawings are created and used to figure quotes. On-site learning about how various aspects of a home’s construction impacts the purchase and installation for a flooring project. Learn how to create drawings and input products into the Measure Program.  

 

 

Product Research: Conduct research on new flooring products, trends, and industry developments to stay updated and provide informed recommendations to customers. 

 

Administrative Tasks: Assist in administrative duties such as data entry, filing paperwork, and maintaining customer records in the company database. Maintain stock of forms and brochures located in the front desk.  

 

Visual Merchandising: Help create attractive floor displays, arrange product samples, and maintain the showroom's visual appeal to attract customers. Maintain displays by pulling drops when sent from manufacturers.  

 

Learning Opportunities: Take advantage of learning opportunities provided by the internship, such as attending training sessions, workshops, and industry events to enhance knowledge and skills related to flooring products and sales techniques. 

 

Customer Feedback Analysis: Help collect and analyze customer feedback and satisfaction surveys, identifying areas for improvement and suggesting strategies to enhance the customer experience. 

 

Market Research: Conduct market research to identify potential customer segments, competitor analysis, and emerging trends in the flooring industry to inform marketing and sales strategies. 

 

Cross-Functional Training: Gain exposure to various departments within the company, such as warehouse operations, finance, or customer service, to develop a well-rounded understanding of floor store operations.

Schedule: 

Flexible hours 

20-30 hours per week 

Occasional Saturday shifts (Closed on Sunday)
