FWS Research Assistant- Study of the Past and Future of Interior Design Education
Description:
The research team is seeking an Undergraduate research assistant to participate in the development of research related to identifying the most effective learning tools and methods for the emerging Interior Design Student as well as an investigation into how a design studio in the future may operate differently than conventional design education models to most effectively prepare students for interior design careers. The study will require research into existing and prior interior design education models at various institutions and an organized collation of those findings for analysis by the team, as well as interviews with interior design program stakeholders and participants. Outcomes of the study will be developed into proposals for consideration in conference proceedings, publications, and possibly proposals for grant funding to expand the study.
Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
assistant on going research ( e.g. literature reviews, data collection)
conducting qualitative surveys and interviews with building occupants in person and through zoom and transcribing results
collate quantitative data
attend regular team meetings as well as additional team meetings that may arise
content development for research presentations and publications
Hourly pay: 12.77 an hour
Remote Options:
The student will have the option to work remotely if necessary.

Required / Preferred qualifications:
Interest in interior design education practices and methods
motivation to learn new skills and knowledge
punctuality and strong communication skills
strong organizational skills
the ability to use AutoDesk and Adobe Software programs as well as Google Workspace
Hours:
A reasonable weekly schedule will be determined between the supervisor and mentor, not to exceed 20 hours per week, Monday- Friday during normal working hours.
