Industrial Design Intern

 

Summary

Chobani and La Colombe is seeking an Industrial Design Intern to join our Industrial Design team in Tribeca, NYC for the summer. This role will focus primarily on packaging and equipment design, with opportunities to contribute to other Industrial Design projects as they arise. You’ll work alongside designers and cross-functional partners to explore concepts, prototype ideas, and help bring thoughtful, brand-right solutions into the real world.

 

Responsibilities

· Support the design team through concept-to-execution work across packaging structures and equipment-related projects

· Create sketches, exploratory concepts, and visual directions to communicate design intent

· Build and iterate 3D CAD models and quick studies to test form, function, and feasibility

· Develop mockups and prototypes (physical and/or digital) to evaluate usability, assembly, ergonomics, and production constraints

· Assist in preparing presentations for critiques, stakeholder reviews, and design milestones

· Collaborate with engineering, packaging, marketing, quality, and operations partners to incorporate requirements and feedback

· Contribute to documentation and handoff materials (renders, drawings, specifications, or visual guides) as needed

· Jump into retail and brand-experience projects when timelines and team needs align

 

Requirements

· Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial design.

· A portfolio demonstrating strong fundamentals: form development, systems thinking, problem-solving, and clear storytelling

· Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

· Interest in consumer brands, packaging, equipment, and physical brand experiences

· Ability to move quickly between early ideas and refined design proposals.

· Proficiency in OnShape, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling tools.

· Hands-on experience with fabrication, model‑making, and 3D printing.

· Highly organized and able to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting

· Eager to learn, take initiative, and adapt quickly

· Comfortable working collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams.

· Professional and respectful when interacting with team members and stakeholders

· Available to work onsite at our Fishtown, Philadelphia office Monday - Thursday

 

Tools & Skills (Nice to Have)

· CAD: Onshape, SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360 (or similar)

· Rendering: KeyShot

· Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)

· Prototyping: model making, 3D printing, basic shop skills
